Request informationA cycling loop through old Holland, at the pace of its bike paths. You start in Alkmaar, the cheese town, and pedal through meadows and villages to Amsterdam, then on to Hoorn and Medemblik, old ports of the Zuiderzee.
You cross the polders, land reclaimed from the sea, to Den Helder, at the tip of the peninsula. From here the ferry takes you to Texel, the largest of the Wadden Islands: dunes, beaches, sheep and a lighthouse at its northern end. The last stage returns to Alkmaar past windmills and canals.

8 days in the programme
The cheese town. Independent arrival in Alkmaar and check-in at the hotel. A walk along the canals and to the Weigh House square, where the cheese market is held.
About 62 km. The first stage heads south through meadows, canals and villages of the Dutch countryside to Amsterdam. Free time along the canals of the centre.
About 63 km. You leave Amsterdam heading north, into the Waterland countryside, to Hoorn, an old port with merchants' houses facing the water.
About 49 km. A short stage across a polder, land reclaimed from the sea, to Medemblik, with Radboud castle and its harbour.
About 66 km. You ride to the northern tip of the peninsula and Den Helder, a seaside town and the ferry port for Texel.
About 56 km. Ferry to Texel and a ride around the island, the largest of the Wadden, among dunes, beaches, sheep pastures and small villages. Return to Den Helder.
About 61 km. The last stage heads south past windmills, canals and dunes, closing the loop in Alkmaar.
End of the trip. Breakfast and independent departure.
