Request informationA complete tour of Albania at your own pace, behind the wheel of a rental car. From Tirana you head up to Kruja, Skanderbeg's town, and to Shkodër with Rozafa castle above the lake, then down to the Adriatic at Durrës, with its Roman amphitheatre.
Heading south, the Ardenica monastery, the Greek ruins of Apollonia and Vlorë. From here the road climbs the Llogara pass and drops down along the Riviera, past bays and villages on the Ionian Sea, to Butrint and Saranda.
The drive back north goes through Gjirokastër, the stone town, and Berat, the town of a thousand windows, both UNESCO sites.

8 days in the programme
The colourful capital. Arrival at Tirana airport and car pick-up. Free time around Skanderbeg Square, the colourful buildings and the Blloku district.
Kruja and the north. Drive to Kruja, perched on the mountainside, with its castle, the Skanderbeg museum and the old bazaar. On to Shkodër, below Rozafa castle and on the shores of the lake.
On the Adriatic. A morning in Shkodër, then a drive to Durrës, the country's main port. A visit to the Roman amphitheatre and a stroll along the seafront.
Ardenica and Apollonia. A stop at the Orthodox monastery of Ardenica, with its frescoes, and a visit to the ruins of the ancient Greek city of Apollonia. Arrival in Vlorë, the city of Albanian independence.
The Riviera and Butrint. The road climbs the Llogara pass and descends along the Riviera, past bays and seaside villages. A visit to Butrint archaeological park, a UNESCO site, and arrival in Saranda.
Two UNESCO towns. Drive inland to Gjirokastër, the stone town, with its castle and Ottoman tower houses. On to Berat.
The town of a thousand windows. A morning in Berat, among the Mangalem quarter, the inhabited citadel and the Byzantine churches. In the afternoon, drive back to Tirana.
End of the trip. Car drop-off at Tirana airport.
