Overview

A road trip for lovers of nature and Australian wildlife. From Melbourne you head to the Mornington Peninsula, among vineyards and beaches, and cross the bay by ferry to the start of the Great Ocean Road, one of the world's finest coastal drives, as far as the Twelve Apostles.

In the Grampians, among sandstone mountains and waterfalls, you meet kangaroos and wallabies; then you enter South Australia as far as Victor Harbor.

The last stop is Kangaroo Island, a nature sanctuary home to sea lions, koalas, kangaroos and echidnas, explored on a guided tour.

Good to know

  • Australia requires the free eVisitor electronic visa, applied for online before departure; you need a passport valid for your whole stay.
  • To drive in Australia you need an International Driving Permit together with your Italian licence. Driving is on the left and distances are long: avoid driving at dusk, when animals cross the road.
