Request informationBerlin still bears the marks of the war and of the Wall, which divided it from 1961 to 1989, but it is also one of Europe's liveliest capitals. In a few days you move from the Brandenburg Gate to the Reichstag, from Alexanderplatz to Museum Island.
One day is given to memory: the Wall, from Bernauer Strasse to the East Side Gallery, and if you like the memorial at the Sachsenhausen camp, just outside the city. Then the more playful, contemporary Berlin, among unusual museums, Kreuzberg and the markets.
The programme is a suggestion: length and stops adapt to you.
City stay with 4 nights in a hotel.
5 days in the programme
First evening in the city. Arrival in Berlin and check-in at the hotel. In the evening, a first stroll among the bars and beer halls of the centre.
From Alexanderplatz to the Brandenburg Gate. A day for the landmarks: Alexanderplatz and the TV Tower, the Nikolai quarter, Museum Island, Unter den Linden and the Brandenburg Gate. A possible visit to the Reichstag dome.
Twentieth-century history. A day at the sites of the Wall: the Bernauer Strasse memorial, Checkpoint Charlie and the East Side Gallery. Alternatively, a possible visit to the memorial at the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, north of the city.
Unusual museums and lively districts. A day for the city's more modern, quirky side: the Spy Museum or other interactive museums, Potsdamer Platz, then Kreuzberg with its markets and the old Tempelhof airport, now a park.
End of the trip. A free morning for a walk in the Tiergarten, then end of the trip.
