Request informationThe last part of the French Way, by bike. It starts in León, with its Gothic cathedral, and heads to Astorga, with Gaudí's Episcopal Palace, and Ponferrada, dominated by its Templar castle.
Then the climb to O Cebreiro, a stone village high up at the gateway to Galicia, and the descent through woods, meadows and farming villages to Portomarín, Arzúa and Santiago de Compostela, with the cathedral where the Camino ends.
You ride at your own pace: the route has constant ups and downs and is of medium difficulty. Stages and duration can be changed.

8 days in the programme
The starting point. Independent arrival in León and check-in at the hotel. A free evening around the cathedral, the basilica of San Isidoro and the Barrio Húmedo.
First stage. Out of León across the meseta, over the medieval bridge at Hospital de Órbigo, to Astorga, with Gaudí's Episcopal Palace and the cathedral.
Into the mountains. The road climbs through the León mountains to the Cruz de Ferro, one of the Camino's landmarks, then descends to Ponferrada and its Templar castle.
The gateway to Galicia. Through the vineyards of El Bierzo and Villafranca, then the long climb to O Cebreiro, a stone village with ancient thatched pallozas.
Rural Galicia. Downhill through woods and green meadows, via Triacastela and Sarria, to Portomarín, on the river Miño.
Galician ups and downs. A rolling stage through villages and farmland, with a stop in Melide, famous for its octopus, to Arzúa, cheese country.
The last stage. The final kilometres through eucalyptus woods to Monte do Gozo and the Plaza del Obradoiro, in front of the cathedral.
End of the trip. After breakfast, free time for the cathedral and the old town, then end of services.
