Request informationThe Danube cycle path is one of the easiest and most beautiful in Europe: almost entirely flat, away from traffic, with a village or an inn at every bend of the river. You start in Passau, the city of three rivers on the border between Germany and Austria, and ride at your own pace for six stages.
Along the way, the Schlögen loop, Linz, the villages of the river plain and the Maria Taferl sanctuary. Then the Wachau, a UNESCO site, with Melk Abbey, terraced vineyards, Dürnstein and Krems, until you arrive in Vienna.

8 days in the programme
The city of three rivers. Independent arrival in Passau, where the Inn and the Ilz flow into the Danube. Free time in the baroque centre, with St Stephen's Cathedral. Overnight.
First stage, about 40 or 60 km. You cross into Austria along the river, through woods and small villages. The stage ends at Wesenufer or at the Schlögen loop, where the Danube makes a tight bend between the hills.
About 56 or 30 km. The valley opens out towards Linz, capital of Upper Austria, with its baroque main square and contemporary art museums on the riverfront.
About 45 or 30 km. A quiet stage through the countryside along the river, heading east, to Wallsee or Au.
About 50 or 67 km. The river narrows between the hills of the Strudengau, passing through Grein. Arrival in Pöchlarn or Maria Taferl, with its baroque sanctuary overlooking the valley.
The Wachau, about 54 or 67 km. The finest stage: Melk Abbey, then the Wachau, a UNESCO site, among terraced vineyards, castles and villages such as Spitz and Dürnstein, to Krems or Traismauer.
Last stage, about 80 or 70 km. You ride through Tulln and past the Vienna Woods to arrive in Vienna, the imperial capital.
End of the trip. After breakfast, end of services in Vienna. You can add a few nights in the city.
