Request informationA short trip to see Iceland in the cold season, when the days are short and the light is low and raking. You head north-west to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, with the glacier that gives it its name, black beaches and Kirkjufell mountain, as far as the harbour of Stykkishólmur.
Then a long drive south, with the option of passing through the Golden Circle, and the south coast: Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, Reynisfjara beach and Jökulsárlón lagoon, where icebergs break off the glacier and end up on the black sand.

6 days in the programme
Car pick-up. Flight from Italy to Keflavík, rental car pick-up at the airport and drive to Reykjavik. Time for a walk between the harbour and Hallgrímskirkja church.
The Snæfellsnes Peninsula. North-west to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, dominated by the Snæfellsjökull glacier: black beaches, the cliffs of Arnarstapi and Kirkjufell mountain. Night in Stykkishólmur, a fishing village with colourful houses around the harbour.
Heading south. A long drive south. On the way you can take in the Golden Circle: Þingvellir park, the Strokkur geyser and Gullfoss waterfall. Night in the Hella area.
Waterfalls and ice. Along the south coast: Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, Reynisfjara black beach near Vík and, in the afternoon, Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon with its icebergs and nearby Diamond Beach. Night in the lagoon area.
Back to the capital. A long drive back along the south coast to Reykjavik, with the stops missed on the way out. In the evening, with clear skies, you can look for the northern lights.
End of the trip. Car drop-off at Keflavík airport and flight home.
