Request informationTwo neighbouring but very different islands. Lanzarote is the island of fire: black lava flows, craters and vineyards dug into the ash. By car you head south, to Playa Blanca, the coves of Papagayo and the green lagoon of El Golfo, and spend a day in Timanfaya National Park, the volcanic heart of the island.
Half an hour by ferry, with the car on board, takes you to Fuerteventura, the island of wind, with endless beaches and the pale sand dunes of Corralejo. From here a short crossing leads to the island of Lobos, a small uninhabited nature reserve.
A self-drive trip, with 7 nights in hotels with breakfast and the ferry between the islands; rental car not included.
8 days in the programme
The island of fire. Arrival at Lanzarote airport, rental car pick-up and check-in at your hotel in Costa Teguise. Free time, perhaps in Arrecife.
Beaches and lunar landscapes. By car to the south of the island: Playa Blanca, the golden coves of Papagayo and El Golfo, with its green lagoon at the foot of a crater. An optional lunch at a seaside restaurant.
The volcanic heart. A day devoted to Timanfaya National Park, created by the eruptions of the 1700s, with the Ruta de los Volcanes and the Cueva de los Naturalistas.
The island of wind. Ferry with your car from Lanzarote to Fuerteventura, about 30 minutes. Check-in at your hotel in Caleta de Fuste.
The dunes. A day in the Corralejo Dunes Nature Park, in the north-east of the island, among pale sand and ocean beaches.
An uninhabited reserve. A short ferry crossing, about 15 minutes, to the island of Lobos, a volcanic nature reserve: trails, the lighthouse and La Concha lagoon.
Back to the island of fire. Return ferry to Lanzarote and check-in at your hotel in Costa Teguise. The rest of the day at leisure, perhaps for César Manrique's sites.
End of the trip. Breakfast, rental car drop-off at the airport and end of services.
