Request informationA relaxed Madrid, alternating museums, parks and fun. On the first day you walk from the Cibeles Fountain along the Gran Vía to Plaza de España and the Temple of Debod, a real Egyptian temple donated to Spain, where people gather in the evening to watch the sunset.
Then the Prado Museum and the Royal Palace, with a break for a bocadillo de calamares, the city's signature sandwich, and an evening of tapas. Buen Retiro Park, with rowing boats on its lake, is perfect for a morning outdoors.
One day is for Parque Warner Madrid, the theme park with characters from Warner Bros films and cartoons, easy to reach by rental car. If you prefer to stay in town, there is time for more museums and neighbourhoods.

From Cibeles to the Temple of Debod. Arrival in Madrid and check-in at the hotel. A walk from the Cibeles Fountain along the Gran Vía to Plaza de España and the Temple of Debod, for sunset. Evening among the bars and restaurants of the Gran Vía.
The Prado and the Royal Palace. Morning at the Prado Museum, with masterpieces by Velázquez and Goya. Then the Royal Palace and Plaza de Oriente. A break for a bocadillo de calamares near Plaza Mayor and, in the evening, a round of tapas.
Retiro Park. Morning in Buen Retiro Park, with rowing boats on the lake and the Palacio de Cristal. Free afternoon: shopping, another museum or, for younger travellers, the Wax Museum.
A day of fun. By rental car to Parque Warner Madrid, south of the city, for a day of rides and Warner Bros characters. Alternatively, a free day in town.
End of the trip. Last free hours around the squares of the centre, then departure.
