In the first, you tour the island with an Italian-speaking guide and a private car: temples by the sea and in the mountains, the UNESCO-listed rice terraces of Jatiluwih, the lakes and volcanoes of the interior, and villages where life still follows the calendar of ceremonies.
You see Tanah Lot temple at sunset, Pura Ulun Danu on Lake Beratan, the mother temple of Besakih at the foot of Mount Agung and the view of the Batur volcano from Kintamani. In Ubud, the island's cultural heart, the day ends with a Balinese dance performance.
In the second part you slow down: four beach days in Nusa Dua, on the south coast, with quiet beaches and calm water. We can change the balance between exploring and relaxing, add a few nights among the rice fields of Ubud or an extension to the Gili Islands.
11 days in the programme
Airport welcome and private transfer. Arrival at Bali airport, where our local representative meets you for the private transfer to your hotel. Free time to rest and get your bearings.
Mountain temples and UNESCO rice terraces. A day in Tabanan province. You visit Pura Luhur Batukaru, a forest temple on the slopes of the mountain of the same name, then the UNESCO-listed rice terraces of Jatiluwih. After lunch, Bedugul, with Pura Ulun Danu temple on Lake Beratan and the Candikuning market. Meals included: breakfast and lunch.
The monkey forest, the royal temple and sunset by the sea. The day starts in the sacred forest of Sangeh, with its towering trees and monkeys. Then Taman Ayun in Mengwi, a royal temple surrounded by a moat and one of the most elegant on the island. It ends at Tanah Lot, the temple on a rock in the ocean, at sunset. Meals included: breakfast and lunch.
Barong dance, rice terraces and volcano views. In the morning, the Barong dance in Batubulan, which tells the story of the struggle between good and evil. Then the Tegallalang rice terraces and the village of Sebatu. After lunch, Kintamani, with views over the Batur volcano and lake, and Gunung Kawi, with its temples carved into the rock. Meals included: breakfast and lunch.
The traditional village and the mother temple. A visit to Penglipuran, one of the best-preserved traditional villages in Bali. On to Besakih, the island's "mother temple", on the slopes of Mount Agung, the sacred volcano. After a lunch break, Klungkung and Kertha Gosa, the old royal court of justice with its painted ceilings. Meals included: breakfast.
The Monkey Forest and an evening show. A day in Ubud, the island's cultural centre, with the Monkey Forest, the market and art galleries. An early dinner and, at 7 pm, the chance to see a traditional Balinese dance performance. Meals included: breakfast and dinner.
Transfer to the coast. Transfer to Nusa Dua, on the south coast, for the start of your beach stay. The rest of the day is free. Meals included: breakfast.
Beach and relaxation. A free day by the sea. Nusa Dua's beaches are sheltered by the reef, with calm water that is good for swimming. Meals included: breakfast.
Beach time or a boat trip. A free day. If you like, you can go snorkelling, take a boat trip to Nusa Penida or visit Uluwatu temple on its clifftop at sunset. Meals included: breakfast.
A final day by the sea. A last free day in Nusa Dua to enjoy the beach and the resort. Meals included: breakfast.
Private transfer to the airport. After breakfast, private transfer to the airport for your flight home.
