Three days take you beyond the resort. By buggy along the dirt tracks inland, among fields and villages. By plane to the Samaná peninsula, the greenest part of the country, among bays and palm groves. And by boat to Isla Saona, in the National Park of the East, with its shallow natural pools and palm-fringed beaches.

Arrival at Punta Cana airport, welcome and private transfer to the Iberostar Grand Bávaro, on Bávaro beach, about half an hour away. The resort is an adults-only 5-star. Check-in at your sea-view suite and start of the all-inclusive stay. To enter the country you fill in the e-Ticket form online before departure. The Dominican Republic is five hours behind Italy, six when Italy is on summer time: the rest of the day is for resting and a first swim.
A free day at the resort, all inclusive. Bávaro beach is a long strip of white sand lined with coconut palms, on the Coconut Coast, the island's eastern stretch. The resort has pools and large gardens for a walk in the shade. Golfers will find an 18-hole course designed by P.B. Dye near the resort, booked separately. Meals and drinks at the resort are covered by the all-inclusive plan.
An included VIP excursion aboard a buggy, a small motorised off-roader, along the dirt tracks inland from Punta Cana. The route crosses fields, plantations, sandy stretches and small villages, away from the strip of resorts on the coast. Like the other VIP excursions, it is normally shared with other guests; on request it can be private, at a supplement. Wear clothes that can get dirty, because you come back covered in dust or mud. Return to the resort and an all-inclusive evening.
A free day at the resort, all inclusive. Off Bávaro beach, a short distance from the shore, runs a coral reef: with mask and snorkel you see tropical fish and corals. The rest of the day is for the beach, the spa or the resort's restaurants. One optional idea, booked separately: the Ojos Indígenas ecological park, in the Punta Cana area, with twelve freshwater lagoons in the forest, some of them suitable for swimming.
An included full-day VIP excursion. A short flight takes you from Punta Cana to the Samaná peninsula, in the north-east of the country: from the air you see the coast, the bays and the green hills. Samaná is the wildest part of the Dominican Republic, with quiet beaches, large coconut plantations and rainforest. From mid-January to March humpback whales come to Samaná Bay to mate and give birth. Flight back and an evening at the resort, all inclusive.
A free day, all inclusive. One idea if you want to get out: Playa Macao, north of Bávaro, a public beach with little building, with waves suited to surf lessons. Or Higüey, about an hour away, with the basilica of Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia, the shrine of the country's patron saint, known for its great concrete arch. Optional outings, booked separately. If you stay, the rest of the day is for the beach and the resort's pools.
An included VIP excursion to Isla Saona, the largest of the Dominican islands, in the National Park of the East, off the south-east coast. You sail among mangroves and coral reefs to the palm-fringed beaches. On the way, a stop at the natural pools, stretches of shallow, clear water in the open sea where starfish live, which should be left in the water. On the island is Mano Juan, a fishing village near the Los Flamencos lagoon, with a turtle conservation project. Return to the resort.
Last hours at the resort depending on the flight time, then private transfer to Punta Cana airport and flight back to Italy.
