Request informationNicaragua is a land of lakes and volcanoes, still off the main tourist routes. It starts in León, a university and revolutionary city, with its great white cathedral, a UNESCO site, and murals telling the country's recent history.
Heading south, you cross the mangroves of the Juan Venado reserve and climb Masaya volcano, where you look down into an active crater. Granada, on the shores of Lake Nicaragua, is the most colourful colonial city in Central America; from here you visit Mombacho volcano, with its cloud forest, and the pottery workshops of San Juan de Oriente.
It ends on Ometepe, the island formed by two volcanoes in the middle of the lake, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

Welcome to Nicaragua. Arrival at Managua airport and private transfer to the hotel. Free time for a first look at the capital and its lakefront.
The city of murals. Departure for León, one of the country's historic cities. A tour of the centre, with the cathedral, a UNESCO site, and the murals telling the story of the Sandinista revolution.
City and volcanoes. A day in and around León: the colonial churches, the museum devoted to the poet Rubén Darío and the volcanic landscapes of the Maribios range, with Cerro Negro, the youngest volcano in Central America.
Mangroves and an active crater. By boat through the mangroves of the Juan Venado reserve, rich in birdlife. Then Masaya Volcano National Park, with its smoking crater, and arrival in Granada.
The colonial city and the islets. A tour of Granada, with its colourful façades, the cathedral and the squares. Then by boat among the islets of Lake Nicaragua, born from an ancient eruption and covered in vegetation.
Cloud forest and pottery. An excursion on Mombacho volcano, along the cloud forest trails, then San Juan de Oriente, a village of potters. Return to Granada.
The island of two volcanoes. Transfer to the port of San Jorge and ferry to Ometepe Island, formed by the Concepción and Maderas volcanoes. Check-in at the hotel.
Biosphere Reserve. A day discovering the island: villages, lake beaches, the Ojo de Agua springs and the petroglyphs left by ancient peoples.
End of the trip. Ferry to the mainland and private transfer to Managua airport for your flight home.
