Request informationKerala, the green strip of southern India between the Arabian Sea and the mountains. It starts in Cochin, with St Francis Church, where Vasco da Gama was buried, the Chinese fishing nets and a show of kalaripayattu, Kerala's ancient martial art.
Then the hills of Munnar, covered in tea plantations, and Periyar, among forests and spice gardens. At Kumarakom the world of the backwaters begins: a night on a houseboat, the floating home of wood and bamboo, cruising through canals and villages to Alleppey.
It ends with two beach days at Kovalam. Among the experiences, a family dinner and sadya, the traditional lunch served on a banana leaf.
10 days in the programme
Overnight flight. Departure from Milan Malpensa on a scheduled connecting flight to Cochin. Night on board.
Fort Kochi and kalaripayattu. Arrival in Cochin. A visit to Fort Kochi: St Francis Church, the Chinese fishing nets and Jew Town. In the evening, a kalaripayattu show.
Into the tea hills. A drive up to Munnar, past waterfalls and tea plantations.
Tea and mountains. A visit to a plantation and the tea museum, and to Eravikulam park, on the highest hills of southern India.
Spice country. Transfer to Periyar and a visit to a spice garden: pepper, cardamom, cinnamon.
The backwaters. Transfer to Kumarakom, on Lake Vembanad. An afternoon of relaxation among palms and canals.
A night on the water. Embarkation on the houseboat and a cruise through canals, rice fields and villages that live from fishing and farming. Full board and night on board.
To the sea. Disembarkation at Alleppey and transfer to Kovalam, via Trivandrum.
Sea and relaxation. A free day on Kovalam beach, with its lighthouse.
End of the trip. Transfer to Trivandrum airport and flight back to Italy.
