Request informationA Laos off the usual routes. From Houeixai, on the Mekong at the Thai border, you enter the forest of the Bokeo reserve for the Gibbon Experience: two nights in houses built in the trees, moving between them by zip line and waking to the song of the gibbons.
Then Luang Namtha, among rice fields and minority villages, to explore by bicycle, and the modern train that reaches Luang Prabang in a few hours.
The last part is in the most beautiful city in Laos: its monasteries, the Mekong by boat to the Pak Ou caves and the turquoise pools of the Kuang Si falls.
10 days in the programme
On the Mekong. Arrival in Houeixai, a small town on the Mekong at the Thai border, and meeting with your local guide.
Into the Bokeo forest. You enter the Bokeo reserve for the Gibbon Experience. A forest walk, your first zip lines and a night in a treehouse.
Gibbons and zip lines. At dawn, the song of the gibbons. A day of trails and zip lines above the treetops. Second night in the trees.
From the forest to the river. A walk back out of the forest and transfer to Houeixai. Free afternoon.
Traditional villages. Departure north, with stops at minority villages along the way. Arrival in Luang Namtha.
By bicycle. A bike ride through the valley, among rice fields and Tai Lue and Akha villages.
Markets and the train. A visit to the local market, then by train to Luang Prabang.
The Mekong and Pak Ou. By boat on the Mekong to the Pak Ou caves, with thousands of Buddha statues, and a stop at a riverside village. In the afternoon, the city of monasteries.
The turquoise pools. An excursion to the Kuang Si falls, with turquoise pools where you can swim. In the evening, the night market.
End of the trip. Free time until your airport transfer.
