Request informationThe Gobi Desert by 4x4, with an Italian-speaking guide and nights in gers, the nomads' tents. From Ulaanbaatar you head south among the granite formations of Baga Gazryn Chuluu, down to the Valley of the Eagles, a narrow gorge where ice lingers into summer.
The Khongor dunes, up to 300 metres high, "sing" when the wind moves the sand. At Bayanzag, the Flaming Cliffs, the first nests of dinosaur eggs were found. Then Ongi monastery and Karakorum, Genghis Khan's ancient capital, with Erdene Zuu monastery and its 108 stupas.
On the way back, a visit to a nomadic family and, in Ulaanbaatar, an evening of traditional music and dance.
9 days in the programme
The capital. On arrival your guide takes you to the hotel. A visit to the National History Museum and Genghis Khan Square. Dinner at the hotel.
Baga Gazryn Chuluu. Departure by 4x4 for the Gobi. Lunch at a ger camp, then the granite rocks of Baga Gazryn Chuluu and the Sum Khukh Burd reserve, with its lake and castle ruins. Night in a ger.
The Valley of the Eagles. On to the Valley of the Eagles, Yolyn Am, a narrow mountain gorge where ice lingers into summer. Picnic in nature. Night in a ger.
The singing dunes. The Khongor dunes, up to 300 metres high, to explore on foot as far as the oasis. Night in a ger.
The Flaming Cliffs. The red cliffs of Bayanzag, where dinosaur eggs were found, and the saxaul forest. Night in a ger.
History and spirituality. The ruins of Ongi monastery, once one of the most important in Mongolia, along the river.
The ancient capital. Karakorum, capital of the Mongol empire, with Erdene Zuu monastery and its 108 stupas.
Mongolian folklore. A visit to a nomadic family, then return to Ulaanbaatar for an evening of traditional music and dance.
End of the trip. Transfer to the airport.
