Then a spectacular flight along the Himalayas takes you to Bhutan, the small Buddhist kingdom that measures the happiness of its people. Thimphu, the capital without traffic lights, the Dochula pass with its 108 stupas, Punakha, the old capital for more than three centuries, with its dzong at the meeting of two rivers, and Paro.
From Paro you hike up to Taktsang monastery, the Tiger's Nest, clinging to a cliff face. Private tour with an Italian-speaking guide in Nepal and an English-speaking guide in Bhutan.
9 days in the programme
Welcome to Nepal. Arrival in Kathmandu, meeting with your guide and transfer to the hotel. A first walk in Thamel or Durbar Square.
The great shrines. A visit to Patan, the city of art, the Pashupatinath temple on the Bagmati River and the Boudhanath stupa at sunset.
Flying along the Himalayas. Flight to Paro, with views of the Himalayan peaks on clear days. Meeting with your Bhutanese guide and transfer to Thimphu.
The kingdom's capital. The great Buddha Dordenma, the Memorial Chorten, the school of the thirteen traditional arts and Tashichho dzong.
The Dochula pass. Over the Dochula pass, with its 108 stupas and Himalayan views, to Punakha. A visit to the dzong at the meeting of the two rivers.
The Paro valley. A walk through rice fields to Chimi Lhakhang temple, then return to Paro and a visit to the dzong and the National Museum.
The cliffside monastery. A hike up to Taktsang monastery, clinging to a cliff 900 metres above the valley. In the afternoon, Kyichu temple, one of the oldest in Bhutan.
Back to Nepal. Flight to Kathmandu. Free afternoon or a visit to Bhaktapur.
End of the trip. Free time until your airport transfer.
