In Chitwan National Park you look for the Indian rhino, crocodiles and, with great luck, the tiger. In Pokhara, on Phewa Lake, you climb to Sarangkot at dawn for breakfast facing the Annapurna range.
On the way back, a night in Bandipur, a Newar village on a hilltop ridge that has stayed almost untouched. Private car and Italian-speaking guide throughout.
12 days in the programme
Overnight flight. Departure from Milan on a Turkish Airlines flight to Kathmandu, via Istanbul. Night on board.
Arrival in the valley. Arrival in Kathmandu, meeting with your guide and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, Durbar Square and the Swayambhunath stupa.
The Newar towns. A visit to Panauti, a small town of temples, and to Bhaktapur, with lunch in the centre. In the evening, up to Nagarkot, on the rim of the valley.
Sunrise over the Himalayas. At dawn, the view over the Himalayan range. A walk down to Changu Narayan temple and lunch at Gokarna. Return to Kathmandu.
To the jungle. A long drive south to Chitwan National Park. Check-in at the lodge.
Rhinos and crocodiles. A day of jeep and canoe safaris with the lodge's rangers, looking for the Indian rhino, crocodiles and jungle birds.
Phewa Lake. Transfer to Pokhara, on Phewa Lake. Dinner at the hotel.
Breakfast facing the Annapurna. At dawn to Sarangkot, for breakfast at the lodge facing the Annapurna range. Lunch by the lake and an afternoon at the World Peace Pagoda and the caves.
The ridge-top village. Transfer to Bandipur, a Newar village on a hilltop with a car-free centre. A walk and dinner.
Back to the valley. Return to Kathmandu. Dinner at the Hotel Tibet International restaurant.
The last shrines. The Pashupatinath temple and the Boudhanath stupa. In the evening, a farewell dinner at a restaurant.
End of the trip. Transfer to the airport and flight back to Milan, via Istanbul.
