Request informationSafari and sea in the same trip, without rushing. By 4x4 with a private driver and Italian-speaking guide you enter Tarangire, with its baobabs and large herds of elephants, then Lake Manyara park and finally the Ngorongoro Crater, the largest intact caldera in the world.
From Arusha a short flight takes you to Zanzibar, the spice island. Five nights on the white beaches of the Indian Ocean, with the chance to visit Stone Town and the plantations.

Departure from Italy on a scheduled flight to Kilimanjaro airport, with an international stopover. Meals and overnight on board.
Arrival at Kilimanjaro airport, entry formalities and meeting with the private Italian-speaking guide. Transfer to Arusha, about 45 kilometres, at the foot of Mount Meru. Check-in at the lodge, with the room available from early afternoon. The rest of the day is free to rest after the flight, perhaps walking in the lodge's garden. Dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, departure by 4x4 to Tarangire National Park, about two hours from Arusha. Once inside the park the transfer already becomes a first photo safari, with a stop for lunch. In the afternoon you continue among the great baobabs and herds of elephants, the largest in northern Tanzania, together with zebras, giraffes and wildebeest. Arrival at the tented camp, in a panoramic position. Dinner and overnight stay.
Last safari on the way out of Tarangire and transfer to Lake Manyara park, for a photo safari with a packed lunch. The park, partly covered by the lake's alkaline waters, is home to hippos, elephants, giraffes and, with some luck, the tree-climbing lions also described by Hemingway. In the afternoon you continue to Karatu, at the entrance to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Breakfast and a stop on the crater rim, overlooking the Ngorongoro caldera, about 16 kilometres across. Then the descent inside for a full day of safari with a packed lunch. The crater is home to almost every species in Tanzania, including the rare black rhino, lions and hyenas, in a concentration of wildlife few places in the world can match. Back to the lodge in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay.
Breakfast and return to Arusha, about 150 kilometres. From here a small plane takes you to Zanzibar, flying over the coast. On arrival you meet the local contact and transfer to the beach hotel. Check-in and start of the stay. The afternoon is for a first swim in the Indian Ocean and for resting after the safari days.
Free day. In Zanzibar the tides change the beach a lot during the day: at low tide you walk for hundreds of metres on white sand, at high tide you swim in the lagoon. To book separately, a trip on a dhow, the traditional sailing boat, to the coral reef for snorkelling. Seafood dinner on the beach.
Free day. An idea to book separately: a visit to Stone Town, Zanzibar's historic centre, a UNESCO site for its Swahili architecture. You walk among narrow alleys, carved wooden doors, Darajani market and the old Arab fort. At sunset, the Forodhani Gardens on the seafront, with street food stalls. Back to the hotel in the evening.
Free day. To book separately, a tour of a spice plantation, to see cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla up close, the spices that made the island famous. Or Jozani forest, Zanzibar's only national park, home to the red colobus monkeys found only here. The afternoon is for the sea.
Last full day in Zanzibar, free. You can go back to the lagoon, try kitesurfing on the east coast when it is windy, or book separately a sunset dhow trip. In the evening a special dinner to close the trip, perhaps at one of the island's restaurants over the water. Packing ahead of departure.
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport in time for the return flight to Italy, with an international stopover. Meals and overnight on board.
