Overview

An exceptional itinerary through the central and southern regions of Mongolia, blending the solemnity of Buddhist traditions with the raw power of the natural world. From the vibrant capital of Ulaanbaatar, the route winds southwards through granite formations and vast steppes until it reaches the beating heart of the Gobi Desert.

This journey is defined by total immersion in extraordinary landscapes, including the perennial glaciers of the Yolyn Am gorge, the fiery peaks of Bayanzag, and the towering sand dunes of Khongor. Beyond the scenery, the programme devotes ample time to Mongolian history, exploring the ruins of ancient capitals, centuries-old monasteries such as Erdene Zuu, and nature reserves home to rare species, including the wild horses of Khustai National Park.

Travel is conducted in 4x4 minivans, essential for navigating the Mongolian tracks, with accommodation alternating between city hotels and traditional ger tourist camps for an authentic local experience. The pace of the journey allows for a full appreciation of the biodiversity within the national parks, from the snow leopards of Gurvan Saikhan to the forests of Terelj.
